Special edition on nitrous oxide research
CSIRO’s Soil Research journal has published a special edition providing a snapshot of the results obtained by the Nitrous Oxide Research Program (NORP) (2009–2012) and the National Agricultural Nitrous Oxide Research Program (NANORP) (2013–2016). Papers cover enhanced efficiency fertilisers, the role of soil carbon in nitrous oxide emissions, nitrogen use efficiency and new technologies to reduce nitrogen loss.
A number of papers are authored by PICCC researchers, including:
- Use of the agricultural practice of pasture termination in reducing soil N2O emissions in high-rainfall cropping systems of south-eastern Australia, Belyaeva et al
- Influence of enhanced efficiency fertilisation techniques on nitrous oxide emissions and productivity response from urea in a temperate Australian ryegrass pasture, Suter et al
- Effect of nitrogen fertiliser management on soil mineral nitrogen, nitrous oxide losses, yield and nitrogen uptake of wheat growing in waterlogging-prone soils of south-eastern Australia, Harris et al.
